I work at the Shoalhaven Entertainment Centre which is run under a Government Council (Shoalhaven City Council).

Capacity is - large theatre seating 912 and 1100 standing, small studio seating 192. When opened in July 08 we had 4 fulltime staff and myself as contracted administration help. We are now down to 2 fulltime staff and myself. The Centre Manager & Technical Manager currently work up to 80 hours per week! and are only paid for 40 of them, I am also only authorised to work a 35hour week myself and could easily work 60 hours to complete the current work load. After numerous requests for more staffing, position re grades and permanant vacancies filled being rejected through Management at Council I ask you the public what we should do next!! Even the Illawarra Performing Arts has 14 fulltime staff!!! we have 2!

 

Do you think parents need to take a back step when attending their childrens performances? I work with a group of very talented kids aged between 9-18 and feel that some of these kids cannot perform to their best ability with their parents (who can be the biggest critics) in the same room?
